What we treat

Crooked Teeth

Description

Crooked teeth are often characterised by crooked, overlapping teeth pointing in different directions (see ‘before’ image below). This is caused by dental arches with insufficient space to accommodate the teeth in ‘proper alignment’.

How we can help

Although the best treatment is orthodontics (braces), this may not suit all patients. Alternatively, a comparable outcome can be achieved with appropriate reshaping and veneering (adding to tooth surfaces). This procedure results in a corrected and vastly improved appearance compared to expensive and time-consuming orthodontics, which can take up to two years to correct.

Teeth grinding

Description

The appearance of worn down teeth is often characterised as flat, uneven and shortened over the years of night-time tooth grinding.

How we can help

Porcelain veneers can be bonded to the existing enamel surfaces of all teeth visible in the smile zonerestoring the size and shape of the teeth. This would further enhance the smile with lighter, whiter veneers and a smile lift (by bulking out the inward-pointing upper left and right side and back teeth).

Discoloured teeth

Description

A dark front tooth. The common cause is a dead nerve and a possible root canal treatment.

How we can help

It’s usually very challenging to match a porcelain or quartz composite veneer or crown on a discoloured upper front tooth. Our replacement crown is indistinguishable from its healthy natural adjacent front incisor.

Gaps/missing teeth

Description

Gappy, juvenile-looking teeth. The common cause arch is too small for the number & size of teeth.

How we can help

Gappy teeth can be treated with orthodontics. Alternatively, gaps can often be closed or reduced by adding colour-matched composite to the sides of the teeth or by fully veneering them with composite or porcelain.

Aged smile

Description

An ageing smile can be exemplified by worn, chipped front teeth, obvious mismatched crowns, missing teeth and metal showing.

How we can help

The damaged, grey natural teeth can be veneered with porcelain, old crowns replaced, missing tooth gaps filled, and any metal restoration replaced with tooth-coloured and unrestored teeth can be whitened. The net result would be a much more youthful, healthy-looking smile. See bad teeth.

Unattractive teeth

Description

Some teeth lack harmony and are of significantly different sizes, angulations & positions.

How we can help

Such teeth can be corrected with orthodontics. Alternatively, some re-contouring and /or refacing with veneers can create a more even, harmonious balanced aesthetic appearance as shown in examples below.

Inflamed gums

Description

The infection and irritation of plaque and tartar build-up around teeth at the gum margins results in inflammation. The gums are swollen, purple in colour, tender and very prone to bleeding. More.

How we can help

A thorough professional scaling and cleaning will remove the plaque, tartar and all superficial staining from teeth. This procedure would restore gum health as well as giving you whiter, cleaner teeth and fresh breath.
